Rationale:      This training will be useful to learners who are working within the Public Sector, Local Government, Commercial or Community Environment as well as Line Managers and Human Resources Practitioners who may be called upon to chair disciplinary hearings or gain insight into the role of leadership within a work context.
 
In the workplace, the Leader must, at least, be capable of:

Objectives:    Leadership Skills Development Programme aims at:
 
Training, assessing and awarding a certificate of competence asLeader” to all Heads of Department or Supervisors especially those appointed to senior positions in terms of Section 16(2), or Section 8(2)(i) or Construction Regulation 6(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations (85 of 1993), or those appointed in terms of Section 3(1)(a) of the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 or Minerals Act Regulation 2.6.1 of the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 or any other Act or Regulation respectively.
 
Enabling leaders to gain insight into the role of leadership within a work context, and thus providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their roles.
 
Providing value to public officials who are involved in integrated development planning or public sector management and administration specialists.
 
Enabling leaders to effectively handle hearings and reach reasoned decisions on the basis of evidence presented.
 
Recognising the acquired Credits as an assessed unit of learning that is registered as part of an Occupational Qualification by the Learner’s Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA).
