MQA – SGB for the Mining and Minerals Sector

Duration of Programme:  According to Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) SGB for the Mining and Minerals sector, training (notional) period is based on the minimum credit value (9 Credits) as follows:

1 Credit                      = 10 Notional Hours
9 (shifts) x 10             = 90 Notional Hours
                                     = 90 hrs / 6 days
                                    = 6 hrs / day
                                    = 15 days

Notes from MQA - SGB:

The skills programme may be achieved in a notional period of 15 days or 3 weeks.  This is based on an assumption of utilising 6 hours of training during any given shift.

Considering the fact that some learners may progress faster or slower than other learners, MQA SGB has suggested that a lead and a lag time of 20% be incorporated into the Skills Programme.
